What is Reflexology? It is a focused pressure technique based on the principle that there are zones and reflexes in the feet and hands, corresponding to all glands, organs and parts of the entire body. Reflexology is safe, non-invasive, profoundly relaxing therapy for restoring and balancing the body.
Reflexology Benefits:
- Relieving stress and tension
- Enhancing circulation
- Assists the body to normalize the metabolism naturally
- Complements all other healing modalities
How and Why Does Reflexology Work?
When reflexes are stimulated, the body's natural electrical energy works along the nervous system to clear any blockages in the corresponding zones. Reflexology seems to break up deposits which may interfere with the body's electrical energy in the nervous system.
What Can I Expect During a Session?
Only the practitioner's hands are used to apply reflex therapy to a client's feet. Feedback from the client is an important part of each session and pressure is adjusted accordingly to individual tolerance. Specific work on reflex points is interspersed with relaxation techniques to provide a pleasant overall effect. The most common comment from clients after a Reflexology session is that they feel like they are "walking on air."
How Long is a Session and How Often Should One Receive Reflexology?
Typically, the first session is approximately 1 hour and includes the completion of a Health History Record. Subsequent sessions can take from 45 - 60 minutes depending on an individual's need. If the client is interested in an acceleration of their body's healing process or is in an environment of much stress, frequent sessions may be recommended. Once or twice a week may be most beneficial for a period of time, gradually moving towards biweekly and then monthly for preventative maintenance.
Price: $50 per session
